Amna Irfan - The brave Soul on Earth

I came to know Amna for the first time when she appeared for an interview for the post of Circulation Librarian at FC College University. What a confident and intelligent candidate. Where is she from? I looked at the CV and surprised even more - Kot Radha Kishan - how can such a small village produce such a brilliant librarian speaking English so fluently and confidently.

She was selected and joined us - And what a difference she made - a well knitting team member - a helpful, hardworking and fast learning young girl. I decided to groom her in all aspects, Librarianship, Leadership, Newsletter, I encouraged and persuaded her to enter all areas in a small period of two years and she never failed me. All of us are witness of her outstanding performance in all areas.

On the day of PULISAA Oath-taking, she was in unbearable pain and I was asking her to see the doctor. She said, Ma'm let me handle the ceremony first.

Ah! my lovely little angel. i was the first one to know of her condition and she requested me not to anyone know about it. She said, Ma'm I'll fight it but I think I should resign my post otherwise the Library work will suffer ... But, I could not bear this .... I said you don't worry. Just take care of this illness and fight it out. I'll take care of your work for you. You just get well and come back... But this time she didn't do what she was told... I kept her post for her till last moment, but she didn't come back!

Amna was a promising Librarian, a loving daughter and a responsible colleague!

May Allah bless this innocent and pure soul and May she rest in peace and Heaven for ever and Ever ......and Ever....  Amin!

I remember that day when we joined Govt. Punjab Public Library together. We worked together. We have very good relations as a colleague and as a friend. She was too much co-operative and sincere.
Mujay yaad hay wo din jab hum chay (tea) peenay par lar paray thay but phir sula b kar li thee.
18 December 2007, when I entered in the Serial Section with my other colleague, she was already in that section and she had a cake, I asked Amna what is this? she said, Aqeel Happy birthday to you.
When she was joining F.C. College I said why are u leaving us, na jao, she Said ap sub is tara karain gay to main khushi say ja nae paoon gi.
On the PULISSA oath taking ceremony she did call me and asked are u coming? I said no I am not coming. She said Aqeel are u coming for me not for Oath Taking ceremony. Its an order So me and Arshad Sahab was there. I told her, Amna we are here for you. She said, I know.

I still hava her last sms which she sent to me

Jab yad ka qissa kholun to kuch dost boht yad aate hain
Main guzre pal jo sochon to kuch dost boht yad aate hain

Ab janay konsi nagri me abad hain jakar muddat se
Me rat gae tak jagoon to kuch dost bht yad aate hain

Kuch batein thi phulon jesi kuch lehjay khushbo jesy thy
Me sheher-e-chaman me tehloon to kuch dost bot yad aty hain

Yes, what a sad demise. I remember her as a very committed and serious student. In the beginning she would not talk much, but soon got confidence to participate in the class, and worked hard to get good results. I was really sad to know about her illness and hoped that she might recover, and we see her again. Alas! she is gone so early.

I was impressed to see her working so professionally and becoming a promising professional.

Bushra, it's good you have created this blog. I was just to write on her UNTIMELY death. May she be rewarded with peace in Heaven by Almighty Allah. Indeed she was a brave soul.

Amna your presence filled our hearts with pride and your departure left us in grief sadness. I am missing you so much..... have no further words to tell how I am feeling right now... May heavens open for you! May when my time come we may meet in good....

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered "come to me." With tearful eyes everyone watched you, and saw you pass away. Although everyone loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.....

On 15th January 2007, a girl we met in Govt. Punjab Public Library, wearied brown cloth….a ballpoint in her hands….sitting before the Chief Librarian and signing her joining report…..At that time we do not know who is she? Prior this just read her name in appointment letter……Amna Irfan D/o Sh. Muhammad Irfan. Now she has embossed her name in our hearts… due to her God gifted abilities….

We remember the time which we spend in Govt. Punjab Public Library together. We work together almost a year in GPPL. We joined together, worked together, formed a tea club and chit chats on tea…What a fantastic time we spend…unforgettable…We went for interview in FCCU together…I couldn’t forget the smile/satisfaction when she came out from room after interview…so confident…. and no doubt the choice of Madam Bushra Almas was brilliant…and definitely she prove herself as right choice for right place…

I may among those who shared about her disease…I met her last time on 30th April 2010 in her office at Ewing Memorial Library…she was so weak...

I always ask Amna! How r u? She always replied “ALHAMDOLLIAH me fine” The words which are striking in my mind till now…and I want to listen “ALHAMDOLLIAH me fine”...but unfortunately now I shall not be able to listen a soft and gentle voice again.

Once I asked to Amna
Hum sb tmharay liya worried hain. Tm kb wapis a rahe ho.
She replied: Jald he ….and sent a message still in my INBOX…..the last message… she sent…

Udas mat huwa kro..
Udas mat kiya kro..
Ye ashk teri ankh ke,
Udas Sham ki trha,
Brha rahe hain Dukh mare,
Adhure Jaam ki trha,
Jo ranj o gham k saye hain,
Ye hum ne khud bnaye hain,
Ye khwab to azab hain
Jo ankh mie sjay hain,
Ye dard dhul hi jayen ge,
Ye waqt beet jaye ga,
Jo Hum nhi to na sahi,
Koi to jeet jaye ga
Jo taiz kr de Dhrkanen
Wo naam mt liya kro
Jo ho sky to hum-nasheen
Hansi khushi Jiya kro
Udas mat huwa kro

May Allah bless her with all blessings, mercies and rest her soul in eternal peace and heaven?

Ameen….

From 22-04-2011.. I remain unable to write about my friend. I still don’t believe the untimely death of my dear friend.
We spend whole time together in university & hostel life. It’s my first experience in life to lose a close friend. Really it’s unbelievable.
I met her last year before going to America and she was more excited than me. We made jokes and did lot of photography on that very day. ahhhh
Whenever we had organized any event in Islamabad, I used to invite my friends (Attia, Misbah, Amna, Nabeela, and Saima). She attend last PLA Fb Conference with me, we stayed together in IIUI guest house,,,My life from Punjab university to till date is full of Amna’s memories..
Now am also worried about Amna’s Best friend Sadia Asghar as we (friends) never use the Amna name alone, we always said Amna Sadia….
Dear Sadia we are sorry yar ..We couldn’t save her but believe me she is in better situate. May Allah rest her soul in peace. ameen
